Our Little Visitor

"See how cute I am!!"

"Please pick me up and play with me!!"

To make this part of the story short, we ended up with a stray puppy yesterday. With a face like that and animal lovers like we are, it is hard to believe that he did not become permanently ours. He had a collar, but no name tag. He was pretty much potty trained and Cocoa loved the company! Dustin and I both had a feeling that he had a home somewhere. So when Dustin dropped me off at work this morning he went to the vet to see if he had a chip to let us know of his owners. He didn't have a chip, so the search was on. Dustin was going to swing by the neighborhood where he was originally found and then go to the Humane Society if he didn't have any luck in the neighborhood. Luckily, the first house Dustin stopped at said it was not theirs but they did know who he belonged to, so Dustin took him to his owners! What a great reunion!! (To be honest, I don't think he would have made it to the Humane Society. He would have ended up at our house!)

We knew that we had to get him to his owners QUICKLY because I was getting attached and he was growing on Dustin. He is better off at his original home anyway. We have been entertaining the idea of getting a friend for Cocoa. She seems sad today since her friend left. However, the obvious growing bump growing on me will produce much responsibility and be tremendously time consuming, so we think we will be glad that we only have one dog when the baby gets here. However, if we find a house next year with a backyard and a FENCE, we will probably think seriously about getting Cocoa a friend. For now, it will be us and Cocoa!
