Homemade Bib

Today I made a bib. I was tired of the velcro fastening in the back and leaving marks on her neck from the rough side of the velcro. As I mentioned on a previous post, she is drooling like crazy so we are going through bibs rather quickly. That's something I should have added to the post where I talked about things we didn't expect. Bibs aren't just for food. They are for drool too! I would feel terrible if she got a cold or sick or something else from her chest being constantly wet from drool. So, the bibs may not be flattering to all of her outfits, but she is pretty much always in a bib.

I decided to make a bib of a different style. I used smaller velcro than those we have purchased at stores so the rough side doesn't touch her skin, and it velcros on the front. That makes it easier to put on and take off. I also used terry cloth on the underside so it is super absorbent. I wish I had a picture of her in it, but she is sleeping. And you know what they say, "NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY!!" I didn't realize how true that was until I did it. So, I am going to let little Alyssa sleep peacefully and enjoy her bib another day.

First stage. Pinned and ready for sewing.

Second stage. Front and back sewn together with trim sewn on as well.

very cute! i went to a craft fair in chambersburg, pa on saturday and saw some really cute ideas for babies. one was a very long towel with a part at one end that goes over your neck so that when you get your baby out of the tub, the towel is up against you like an apron and you don't get all wet! such a great idea! also, they have full length body bibs (they would totally come in handy during lunch and dinner time!)
