Soccer

Last night the second year and first year WVSOM students battled it out on the soccer field. It was a cold, rainy, windy night, which resulted in many leg cramps and complaints from the players, but they continued nonetheless.

With a few minutes on the clock, the first year students had one point and the second years had zero. The second years had possession. A kick went straight toward Dustin who was standing right in front of the goal. Dustin kicked to tie the game!! The game ultimately went into overtime where no one scored, then to a shoot out. Each team had five players who would each kick against a goalie and the team with the most goals would win. The first years missed one of their shots, and Dustin was now up to the line for the second years. If Dustin made the goal his team would win, but if he missed the shoot out would continue. Luckily Dustin went up for the kick.....and the score!! The second years won!! You can see them with their trophy below.

I also thought I would update about Dustin's YMCA soccer team. You may remember that last year he coached a soccer team of 12 year olds. This year he and his friend are coaching for the YMCA again, but this year they picked up the 13-15 year olds so they could keep some of their players from last year. So far they have only been practicing, but the games will be beginning soon! I'll keep you posted.

Wow! I am impressed at how great that picture turned out! How did you do that? I heard you say at the shower the camera might be on "night mode", but did you use a tripod or something?

And now I realize I should have just asked you about the picture in a private email... cause now I look like a dork for commenting on the photo of the event instead of on the event itself.. :)
